What to Expect...
WHAT IS A TYPICAL WORSHIP SERVICE LIKE?
SWCC is just getting going so this is a small church between 130 and 160 people. It is a relaxed environment in a School Auditorium. We are aware that some people have little knowledge of the Bible but others are more seasoned in their understanding of the Scriptures. We want to effectively communicate the truth of the Bible to all who come.
We enjoy singing together – the music is contemporary. We use different Worship Teams from Sunday to Sunday. Typically someone from the congregation reads the Scripture just before the teaching of the passage. Someone who is involved at SWCC may share a life story or we will view a contemporary video that speaks to the theme of the day.
We gather in thanksgiving once a month to celebrate communion (the Lord's Supper). Communion is a time of remembrance, giving thanks for the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross and looking forward to His return.
WHAT ARE THE MESSAGES LIKE?
The messages are focused on God’s Word but with a view to help us live purposefully from day to day. We attempt to deal with the heart issues that are common to all of us.
The messages are Biblical, often following a theme like “Against All Odds.” Other times we look at a specific book of the Bible but always with contemporary application.
WILL I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY WAY?
During the Worship Service you are encouraged to sing and sometimes to read Scripture along with the rest of the congregation. You will never be singled out alone. In general, at Southwest Community Church you will never be pressured into any tasks. However, people who willingly commit to serving the church and community with their gifts and actively participate in events, on teams, or get involved in ministry responsibilities always feel a deeper sense of belonging. SWCC encourages everyone to take part by sharing talents or abilities that they can offer, no matter how small. There is something for everyone!
WILL I BE ASKED TO GIVE MONEY?
If you are a guest we want you to be our guest and not feel any obligation to support the ministry of Southwest Community Church. For those who call Southwest their church home, we encourage you to give financially to God and His Church both as an act of worship as well as undergirding the important work we are involved in.
HOW SHOULD I DRESS?
SWCC has a casual atmosphere. We are not concerned with style, formal or informal. If you are comfortable with jeans, business casual or dress-up, it’s entirely up to you.
LUNCH IS SERVED...
One of the unique features of Southwest is the value that is placed on sharing a meal together.
Immediately following the Service the congregation is invited to lunch. The buffet table is filled with delicious food and even better is the chance to connect with old friends and meet new friends.
Typical Menu for each Sunday:
- cold cuts
*We also have a select amount of gluten friendly options available.
